I'm so bored, Alara! What should I do?
Well, for starters, you could always land.
But there's no one down there to play with!
What're you talking about? The weyrlings are down there! Why don't you go play with them?
Ugh! Because, Alara, as you've told me so many times--
Here the tiny green paused to mentally clear her throat and mock her rider in a voice that was nowhere near her own--"Praveth. You must never, ever, under any circumstances, badger young weyrlings to play with you. If they're in the Bowl they're having their lessons. And if they're not in the Bowl, they're sleeping, and you must never, ever barge into the Weyrling Barracks to wake them up so they can come out to play." Duh.
While the green had been mocking her, the woman on her back had smothered her mouth with gloved hands in order to hold back the laughter that was threatening to overwhelm her.
I sound nothing like that and you know it! And I'm right, you should never, ever barge into the Weyrling Barracks--
I only did that once!
Hah! No. It was twice, m'love, and neither time was the Weyrling Master--or his assistant--amused about it.

The little green made a very canine-sounding whine in the back of her throat as she continued to hover in the air, wings moving just enough to keep the pair afloat.
But I wanna plaaaaaaay...
Then go play!
Raaaah!

The woman couldn't help it. At the little dragon's outburst she lost control and doubled over--as best as one could when strapped to a dragon--and laughed until her sides hurt.
Minutes later, the woman finally regained control, wiped the tears from her cheeks and leaned back in the straps, though there was still laughter in her voice when she spoke, "So. Are we ever gonna land and unpack this stuff, or are we going to stay here - in the cold I might add - all day?"
Her only response was a rather childish snort, before the icy green's head snapped to the left, her eyes focused on a single point. Frowning, Alara turned her own gaze in the same direction. A single moment of confusion was quickly replaced by shock as she realised what her now quivering dragon was planning, "Praveth. Don't. You. Dare. .. Praveth!" But it was quite obvious that the green was not listening. Over and over in her mind there was frantic whispering from the little Praveth, and it was not at all afraid. Quite the opposite, in fact. She was down-right excited and could hardly contain herself.
It's a brown it's a brown by Faranth it's a brown I'm gonna go play with that brown! Y'see I'm so gonna play with that brown! Don't try and stop me because I'm gonna play with that brown! YAY IT'S A BROWN!
And with almost no other warning, Praveth was off, large wings beating and quickly gaining speed as she angled towards the brown watch dragon, pack and rider still firmly attached to her back.

New green flitting about, R'yat, came Dalgoth's weary tone. His rider, leaning against the large dragon for support, sipped at the mug of hot klah between his gloved hands. They were getting more and more transfers as of late, it seemed. Good for the Weyr, he supposed. More numbers meant more power behind a Weyrleader's words come Conclave. On that same mark, though, R'yat couldn't help but wonder what might happen should the remainder of those Emonan tithes fail to be retrieved. Rations were already growing dim.
He supposed he could always start taking Dalgoth out to hunt game in the 'Wastes.
I'd rather not. Others have warned against it. Blizzards come easy farther in the Wastes, and I don't love wild dog enough to make it my last meal.
The brown had some truth.

You've informed the women of the new arrival?
Yes.

Women. R'yat chuckled. Between Alysha's infirm stay and Rielle's shaky current state, the only Weyrwoman that could be best informed now was the Weyrwoman herself. Well, let Hayna worry about weyr accommodations. It was only up to R'yat to ensure that the new green didn't try anything odd.
You mean, like coming at us with her rider still aback?
What?

Dalgoth was only quick enough to distance himself from his rider by a few steps before the green approached at too fast a speed.
Slow! the brown called as the newcomer blazed through the morning air.
R'yat winced and took another drink of the klah.
His luck, it'd spill when the flitty green would undoubtedly slam into the cliffside of the watchweyr.

"Praveth! Slow down!" Came the rider's most-definitely terrified shriek as the tiny green continued to speed her way towards the brown watchdragon, "You're going to kill us!"
Am not!
Are too!
Am NOT!
Are TOOOO--PRAVETH!
Oh, alright, you big baby!

At first, it didn't seem like the green would slow down. In fact, she even sped up a little, her excitement temporarily overriding her desire to keep Alara safe. It wasn't until the woman's fear crashed into the dragon's mind that she realised just how close they were to the cliffside, and if she didn't react soon, they'd go splat in a not very pleasant way.
When it seemed that it was too late, the tiny Praveth gave a sharp beat of her wings, and then another, and another, and quickly performed a perfect ninety-degree turn, angling the pair away from imminent death via rock face. Well, mostly perfect. The green's long tail managed to catch the hard rock and she quickly flipped in the air, going from blazing speeds to an almost dead-stop in seconds, and hissed her displeasure at the rock hurting her tail. How Alara had managed to stay on the dragon's back during all of this will be something she will puzzled for the remainder of her life. For the time being, however, the woman was simply happy that they had just stopped.
Breathing heavily, Alara glared down at the pale dragon's neck, not at all trying to hide her anger from her little Praveth, "Don't you EVER, do that again!"
But..
No buts! Not! Again! Ever! You scared me witless, Praveth! I thought we were going to die!
Bu.. You should know by now that I'd never let any harm come to you, Al.
Not the point! This is a new Weyr on a different continent - you've been here not even five minutes! What if the winds had changed during your mad dash? We'd be like a vtol crushed between my hands!
I'm sorry, Al.. Forgive?

The woman seethed quietly as the pair slowly made their way towards the brownrider pair, but eventually her anger evaporated and she sighed, "Of course, Praveth. Just, next time, wait until you've learned enough about the wind patterns here before you make another mad dash like that, alright? Now, let's land this train!"
With a very flitt-like chirp, the little green plopped herself down in the space made by the brown. Her tail smarted like all else, but it was quickly forgotten by being in the presence of the brown.
Hi! I'm Praveth!
The woman groaned and rolled her eyes as she quickly unstrapped herself and slid from the green's back, "I am so unbelievably sorry for that little display. She, uh.. She likes browns. A lot. I have no idea why. All logic flies out the window when she sees a brown. Please accept my apologies if she scared either of you." Here she paused for a moment, unsure of what else to say. Quickly, manners and etiquette kicked in and she gave a slight bow, "By the way, my name is Alara, and this green flitt is Praveth."

"R'yat, Dalgoth's," the older man replied with a chuckle, "I've seen my fair share of stunt-going greens. I've just learned to take precautions when it comes to meeting them. Where y'hail from, lass? Our Weyrleader's bronze is inquisitive today." Dalgoth rumbled agreement - the younger green's antics were enough to rouse the Xanth's questions.
Xanth says B'rien says he wants to know what wing to set the pair in.
Understood.

The brown unfurled his wings to stretch before approaching the green with an amused greeting of his own.
Why, hello Praveth. Dalgoth. Now, is this how you normally greet strangers, or am I just lucky this morning?

Alara couldn't help but chuckle, completely understanding the man's need for learning a trick or two on how to avoid an overly excited green, "I don't blame you, to be honest. If I saw a green doing something like what Praveth did, I think I'd faint and fall right off this ledge." Here she paused, a somewhat thoughtful expression on her face, "But, y'know, having been with Praveth so long, I'm not sure much would surprise me anymore."
However, the moment the question of which Weyr she came from arouse, the woman's laughter and smile momentarily vanished, "Oh, we're from Solace. We'd been there for what seemed like an eternity and decided a change of scenery was in order."

As the older brown approached her, Praveth was reduced to doing little dances in place and shaking from snout to tail-tip. She had never had a brown willingly come up to her, let alone speak to her in a relatively amused manner. Simply put, it thrilled the tiny green to no end. If she died today, she would die happy. But as it was, she was very much alive and there was a brown. Right. There. And he was speaking to her.
I'd be lying if I said no, this isn't how I normally greet strangers but Alara says that lying is bad so I try not to lie, even though I forget sometimes and things tend to slip and then I forget again and then I get all confused and then it all just starts repeating itself and--Oh. Uhm. Yes! No? .. Yes! Wait, no. .. Wait, yes! Yes! .. Maybe? .. I think? .. My tail hurts.
