Name: R’ani
Age/Gender/Rank: 25 – Female – Green Rider
Physical Characteristics: The easiest way to describe R'ani would be petite. But that barely touches the surface. R'ani is short - incredibly so - barely reaching a height of 4'11". Her hair is a deep, rich red-black and shoulder blade length, and her almond-shaped eyes are chocolate brown. Her limbs are thin, her hands and feet tiny. Her waist line is pinched in appearance, and her bust and hips are relatively small. R'ani has a small, slightly rounded face with a lightly tanned tone of skin. All in all, the tiny woman barely weighs 93 pounds.
The few times that R'ani is seen in public, she wears the darkest clothing she can possibly find. As in black, black and more black. Her shirt is cut with a high neck and long sleeves. Her wherhide pants are dyed the same shade, and are also full-length. Her boots are knee high and solid black.
Personality: If one were to get to know R'ani, they would know that she is an incredibly sweet, kind and compassionate person, always willing to lend an ear to those in need and never judge them for their problems. But since not many people know R'ani well enough for her to open like this to them, this is a little known fact about her. For the most part, the aspect of her personality that shines through on a day-to-day basis is that she's shy. Incredibly shy. To the point where any group of people larger than two individuals will cause her to shy away and hide.
Like everyone, there is a dark side to R'ani. Although it may seem that she lacks any amount of a temper, this is far from the truth. It just takes a lot longer for her to react than it would a normal person. If pushed too far (this takes a long time and a LOT of effort), instead of yelling and screaming, her expression will simply become stony, her eyes hard, and she'll just stare at you. No matter what is said or done once this point has been reached, R'ani will do nothing but stare. And stare. And stare. If you move away, her eyes will follow you. It doesn't take much to snap her back to reality, however. A simple, "R'ani!" from someone she knows will cause her to come out of her trance and focus on something else. Like disappearing.
Dragon/Fire Lizards: Green Xenilith
Green Dragon Xenilith
Age- Three Turns.
Personality- Like her rider, Xenilith is timid, shy and seldom speaks. But unlike her rider, who would rather have her teeth pulled than speak in public, she knows that sometimes it is a necessary evil and will do so, quietly voicing her opinions and concerns. Usually, this is only done when she is sure that other dragons--and riders--have finished speaking. She detests being spoken over and interrupted, so she tries her best not to do so to others.
Description- Xenilith is fairly large for her colour, reaching the size of a medium blue (28' in length). Her long, serpentine body is suspended on four equally long and slender legs. Her wings, also large for her size, are fairly broad, perfect for long glides. Her tail is equally as slender as her body, thin and whip-like in appearance. Compared to the rest of her, Xenilith's neck is a little short, but still holding the serpentine-like quality, and her head is narrow and pointed at the end. When it comes to her colouring, Xenilith is fairly unremarkable. Her hide is a soft, apple-green, with no distinguishing markings to be found.
History: Nothing extraordinary, except for Impressing Xenilith, has happened throughout Relani's life. She was born to a small family, consisting of herself, an elder brother and her mother and father. Her father was a fisher, while her mother preferred working indoors, mostly in the kitchen. Relani grew up attached to her mother's side, refusing to go out and socialise with the other children in their small hold.
When she was forced to go out, however, she was always the one picked last for any of the games. Not because she was slow or weak, but simply because the other kids didn't like her. Why? Because she seldom spoke. It's not the she was abused or anything, but speaking just wasn't something she enjoyed doing. Singing, on the other hand, she loved, and would take every opportunity - provided she was alone, of course - to hone her skills.
At the age of fifteen Turns, a searchrider appeared at her small hold, requesting candidates for the upcoming clutch at the now abandoned Crescent Weyr. Although Relani hadn't been present, his dragon, an incredibly sensitive green, had noticed the girl's presence, and had quietly requested that they take the girl. At first, Ranen, her father, refused, stating that the girl hardly spoke and probably wouldn't make the greatest of riders. Her mother Linara, on the other hand, spoke up for the girl, pointing out all her good qualities to her oblivious husband. That the girl had a good head on her shoulders, never judged anyone, was excellent at keeping any negativity to herself, and so on. Defeated, Ranen finally agreed, and Relani, after quickly packing, was whisked away.
The girl stood for many Turns, each time being passed over, until the plague hit. When the Weyr was evacuated, the girl almost considered going back home, head hung with shame. But a greenrider, the one who had searched her in fact, was the one who convinced her otherwise. He stated that, with the new weyr they were going to, new opportunities for Impression would arise. Skeptical because of her age, but without much other choice, Relani went with the group of refugees.
The greenrider proved to be right. At the age of twenty-two Turns, the first clutch of eggs was laid on their new Weyr's hatching sands, and the waiting game began. It didn't take long, however. At least, it didn't seem that way for Relani. And when the eggs finally hatched, and dragon after dragon Impressed, the girl's hopes began to fade, until..
R’ani? R’ani, where are you? Please, don’t leave me here by myself! I can’t stand the thought of being without you!
Staring in complete and utter shock, it took Relani-- No, R'ani, several moments to collect herself. But when it finally hit her that she had Impressed, the woman had fallen to her knees and cried. Not out of sorrow, but joy. For now she had a friend who understood everything about her, and wouldn't scold her for it. Her quiet ways were accepted with an overwhelming sense of love from the little green. And, for once in her life, R'ani finally felt accepted, needed, wanted.
Turns later, the pair had finished their training and were settling in to their new Weyr. At first the green's frequent rising to mate unsettled the shy woman, but she quickly grew accustomed to it, accepting it as a part of her life. However, immediately after Xenilith’s latest flight the pair decided it would be a good idea to leave their home Weyr. A fight had been picked, with neither of the men coming out as the victor, and during this little encounter, R’ni had been attacked. Within a day R’ani had put in her request to transfer, and the Weyrleader, being quite sympathetic, allowed them to go. Hours later, the pair were packed and betweening their way to their new home, Equinox Weyr.
